Thursday, April 21, 2005April is National Poetry Month...
...and I'm a bad English major because I haven't done anything about it until now. Just think, last year at this time I was languishing on idyllic greens, reading aloud one of the greatest poetical epics ever composed. Ok, so it was raining and I was huddled on a porch *next* to the idyllic green. But it's my nostalgia, dammit, and Milton's still awesome. Here's my contribution to poetry for the day: Existential Dilemma everything smells like bananas and i'm pretty sure i don't have brain cancer but there's no bananas around Monday, April 18, 2005Mitsuketaaaa....
Well, despite all of your good advice, I went with Apt #3, which is cheaper and has external laundry. It was also newer and cleaner than #2, and I figure the extra money I save every month will just about pay for my high speed internet, which will keep all of you in the excesses of Thothmuffin to which you are accustomed. (Who am I kidding, I can't go 2 hours without Internet access.) I move out/in on the 24th, so this week and this weekend should be pretty crazy. I'm happier than a Thoth in muffins shopping for apt things, though. Yay home decor! <3 Tuesday, April 12, 2005Heralds, take note

So I've started apartment hunting in earnest after developing much positive feeling on a plan to go to grad school for library science in a year. Right now I'm trying to decide between: 1: New, shiny, pretty apt, rather small, exterior laundry, more expensive 2: Old, rather dingy, large apt with interior laundry and utils paid, less expensive I'm looking at another place tomorrow, I think, but my suspicion is that it will turn out to be old and small, which really is the worst of both worlds. So I will have to go back and smell Apt #2 to check for unconscionable oldness, but right now it's in the lead. Sunday, April 03, 2005Sin City
Sin City is so good. Really. It's gorgeously shot and engaging and unlike anything you've ever seen in theatres. It was interesting to see a modern comic-book-action-type movie that had virtually no Asian influences (unlike Kill Bill) but wasn't bad (unlike Hellboy). It was just a thoroughly American story, noir at its finest. Not only was it unique thematically and visually, but also because you don't recognize any of the actors--you can't even think about them because the characters, the story, the visuals are so engaging. That said, way to go Elijah Wood for continuing to take the creepiest roles on the planet in an attempt to purge his Frodo-Messiah complex. Also, Clive Owen totally made up for being in King Arthur by being in this movie. His plotline is the best, no matter what other reviewers tell you. This movie is awesome. See it now. For those who wonder, this movie is rated Eye-PG, for use of a fake golden eye and a brief moment of thumb-eye pressure. Mostly no eye squick, though, which I thought was pretty amazing considering the vast quantities of dismemberment that otherwise took place. |
